TAGBILARAN CITY — The Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO) on Saturday said there is no confirmed kidnapping incident in the municipality of Baclayon, despite a video circulating on social media claiming otherwise.
In an official statement, the BPPO said a review of police blotters and official records showed no reported or substantiated kidnapping case matching the claims shown in the viral footage.

Authorities, however, are not dismissing the incident. The chief of the Baclayon Municipal Police Station has been ordered to conduct a thorough investigation to verify the authenticity of the video, identify the victim involved, and determine the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident.
At the same time, the Provincial Investigation and Detection Management Unit is carrying out a separate inquiry.

The BPPO emphasized its commitment to establishing the truth and ensuring that public information reflects the province’s actual peace and order situation.
Police also urged the public to exercise caution in sharing unverified content online, warning that misinformation can trigger unnecessary fear and panic.
“The safety and security of the public remain our highest priority,” the BPPO said, assuring that updates will be released once verified information becomes available.
