Authorities have arrested the woman believed to be responsible for the stabbing of a woman at Tagbilaran City Square following a joint operation by the Tagbilaran City Police Station, the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWD), the All Light, Emergency, Rescue and Transport (Alert) emergency response team, and the Tagbilaran City Government.
According to Mayor Jane Yap, authorities acted swiftly to protect the public while ensuring that the woman receives the appropriate medical evaluation and mental health intervention, as she is believed to be in need of professional care.
The arrest came after a social media appeal by netizen Edelyn Busano Castillo, who earlier sought immediate action after her younger sibling was reportedly stabbed.
Castillo later clarified that the first woman taken into custody earlier in the day was not the alleged assailant. She confirmed that the woman shown in the latest police photograph is the individual she identified as the person who stabbed her sibling.
Authorities have yet to release additional details as the investigation into the incident continues.
