TAGBILARAN CITY — Police are investigating an alleged kidnapping incident captured on video near the Tagbilara City Integrated Bus Terminal in Barangay Dao here on Wednesday afternoon, March 11.
The Tagbilaran City Police Station (TCPS) said the incident came to their attention only after a video began circulating on social media, prompting personnel to immediately proceed to the area to verify the report.
In the viral video, a man can be seen being forcibly taken from his motorcycle and pushed into a white vehicle along the roadside near the bus terminal before the vehicle sped away.
Despite the footage, police said no family member of the alleged victim has so far filed an official complaint.
Lt. Col. John Kareen Escober, chief of TCPS, said in interviews with local radio stations that authorities were surprised that no one immediately reported the incident to the police, even though several people were seen in the area when the incident allegedly happened at around 3 p.m.
Escober said investigators have already obtained the plate number of the vehicle seen in the video and are currently verifying its details.
Police are also trying to locate the person who uploaded the video online to gather more information and help determine what exactly transpired.
In addition, authorities are tracing the body numbers of tricycles operating in the area at the time of the incident so that drivers who may have witnessed the event can be interviewed as part of the investigation.
Meanwhile, Gov. Aris Aumentado, governor of Bohol, has offered a P50,000 reward for anyone who can provide credible and verifiable information that could lead to the identification and arrest of those responsible.
The public is urged to coordinate with authorities, who assured that the identities of informants will be kept confidential.
