TAGBILARAN CITY — Authorities have declared the observance of Holy Week 2026 in Bohol as peaceful and orderly, with the Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO) recording zero major incidents throughout the week.
Police operations were heightened from March 29 to April 5 under the supervision of Provincial Director Patricio Degay Jr. to secure churches, tourist destinations, and major thoroughfares amid the influx of pilgrims and visitors.
Data from the BPPO showed a 30.25 percent decline in overall crime incidents compared to the same period last year, reflecting improved peace and order conditions across the province.
Anti-drug efforts remained active, with 27 operations conducted, leading to the confiscation of over 154 grams of suspected shabu worth more than P1 million and the arrest of 29 individuals.
Law enforcement also tracked down 13 wanted persons, seven of whom were listed among the most wanted. In separate operations, authorities seized 25 illegal firearms.
Crackdowns on illegal gambling resulted in the arrest of 60 individuals and the recovery of more than P10,000 in wagered money.
Degay credited the success of the security efforts to the cooperation of the public, local government units, and other stakeholders, emphasizing that community support was key to maintaining a safe and solemn Holy Week across Bohol.
