A boat caretaker died after he allegedly hanged himself in Barangay Poblacion 2 in Tagbilaran City on Wednesday morning.
Jonnie Prieto Matonding, 32, a boat caretaker of Elson fishing boat, allegedly committed suicide using a rope tied to the propeller of an under repair fishing boat and the other end was being tied at the right arm and body of the victim, according to an initial report from the Tagbilaran police.

Matonding is a native from Barangay Lower Loboc, Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental.
In an investigation conducted by city police, the victim was reportedly depressed and problematic.
Prior to the incident, Matonding had breakfast at past 10 a.m. on Wednesday (Sept. 4) in a carenderia at the Causeway. There, he shared to the carenderia owner that he had a problem and planned to commit suicide.
