The Española in Baclayon, Bohol receives their new home thru the Libreng Alagad ug Balay (LAB) project.

TAGBILARAN CITY — A carpenter who spent years building homes for other families now has a house of his own after the Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO) turned over a new home to his family in Barangay Payahan, Baclayon.

Allan Española, a father of five, officially received the house on August 16, 2026, through the 131st Libreng Alagad ug Balay (LAB) Project, in partnership with the Balay sa Paglaum Housing Initiative, an advocacy of Bohol Gov. Erico Aristotle Aumentado and his wife, Rep. Vanessa Aumentado.

Española’s previous home was destroyed by Typhoon Odette, forcing his family to build a makeshift shelter while he continued working as a carpenter to support his children and provide for their daily needs.

The new house was made possible through the cooperation of the Baclayon Municipal Police Station, led by Chief of Police PCPT Alfredo C. Liguayan Jr., the Baclayon local government, the Barangay Payahan council, and volunteers who contributed their time and effort to build the family’s new home.

Major Joseph Lopena, spokesperson for the BPPO, said the police provincial office coordinates with the chiefs of police, who evaluate and process the beneficiaries for the LAB project.

For Española, the project marked a new beginning as he finally gained the secure home he had long helped build for others.

The BPPO said it hopes to reach more families through the program and provide them with opportunities for a better and more secure future.
