Bohol 2nd District Rep. Maria Vanessa Aumentado was removed as chairperson of the House Committee on Ecology as the House of Representatives reshuffled several leadership and committee assignments.
Aumentado, who voted against the impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte during the May 11, 2026 voting, was replaced by Batangas Rep. Aniela Bianca Tolentino.
Tolentino previously chaired the House Committee on Climate Change but was transferred to the Ecology panel following the latest changes approved by the House.
The reshuffle affected several lawmakers who either voted against, abstained from, or did not participate in the impeachment vote against Duterte.
Aumentado was among the lawmakers who voted against the impeachment complaint. Her removal from the Ecology committee chairmanship came alongside other changes involving lawmakers who took positions contrary to the impeachment effort.
Also removed from a committee leadership post was fellow Boholano Rep. Kristine Alexie Tutor, who voted against the impeachment complaint. She was relieved as chairperson of the Special Committee on Globalization and the World Trade Organization and replaced by Mandaluyong Rep. Quenie Gonzales.
The changes also included the replacement of several deputy speakers and assistant majority leaders, as well as committee chairpersons.
The House reshuffle has drawn attention because of the apparent link between some of the changes and lawmakers’ participation or voting positions during the impeachment proceedings.
