BACLAYON, Bohol — The body of a newborn baby boy was found inside a garbage bag along the shoreline of Barangay Laya in Baclayon town early Tuesday morning, July 8.

A video of the incident, posted by a netizen on social media, has since circulated online.

Police said the infant’s body had been wrapped in cellophane before being placed inside a garbage bag.

The body was discovered by a caretaker of a nearby beach cottage, who immediately alerted authorities.

Initial police investigation suggests the newborn may have been discarded into the sea before the body was washed ashore by the waves. The infant was found in front of beach cottages near the old barangay hall, an area where floating debris commonly accumulates during the southwest monsoon season.

Responding personnel from the Women’s and Children’s Protection Desk transported the baby’s body to the Governor Celestino Gallares Medical Center for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

Police have launched an investigation to identify those responsible and determine the circumstances surrounding the infant’s death.
