TAGBILARAN CITY – More than 8,000 families, or about 25,775 individuals, have evacuated from various towns in Bohol as precautionary measures against the potential impact of Super Typhoon Uwan, according to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC).
As of 6 p.m. Saturday, November 9, 24 local government units (LGUs) conducted preemptive evacuations to safeguard residents from the expected strong winds, heavy rainfall, and storm surges.
The towns with the highest number of evacuees include Inabanga with 1,249 families (4,292 individuals), Bien Unido with 1,134 families (4,109 individuals), and Tubigon with 1,085 families (3,853 individuals).
Despite the mass evacuations, the PDRRMO reported that no major damages or casualties have been recorded so far.
As of the latest bulletin, Bohol remains under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1. Local authorities continue to urge residents, especially those in low-lying and coastal areas, to remain vigilant and heed official advisories as the super typhoon moves closer to the Visayas region.
