TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol — The provincial government of Bohol has imposed a 60-day temporary ban on the entry of live pigs, pork, and pork products from Negros Island to protect the province from the spread of African Swine Fever (ASF).

Governor Erico Aristotle “Aris” Aumentado announced that he signed Executive Order No. 28, Series of 2026, on July 3, placing restrictions on the transport of live pigs, pork, and pork products originating from both Negros Oriental and Negros Occidental.

The measure was implemented following the detection of ASF cases in Negros Island.

According to Aumentado, the temporary ban aims to safeguard Bohol’s swine industry and prevent the highly contagious viral disease from reaching the province.

The governor also called on the public, livestock raisers, traders, and concerned agencies to cooperate in enforcing the order and observing biosecurity measures to help prevent the spread of ASF.

African Swine Fever is a viral disease that affects pigs and wild boars. While it poses no risk to human health, it can cause severe losses to the livestock industry due to its high mortality rate among infected animals.
