Two gender-based organizations were formally introduced during the weekly flag-raising ceremony last Monday, March 25.

This was held as part of the Women’s Month culminating activity by the leading government agency in the province, promoting women empowerment and inclusivity.

Gov. Erico Aristotle Aumentado, along with Civil Service Commission Region VII Director Ariel Bacatan, led the oath-taking ceremony of officers from Men Opposed to Violence against Women and Children Everywhere (MOVE), led by Fortunato Cosap, president.

MOVE will also join the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s Empowerment and Reaffirmation of Paternal Abilities (ERPAT) program.

The ERPAT program is aimed at foreseeing Filipino fathers becoming responsible and effective in their paternal roles.

Dr. Mariquit Derikito-Oppus, head of the Provincial Human Resource Management and Development Office, presented the members and officers of the Solo Parents Organization of the Philippines, led by its president, Nancy Cabagnot.

The Solo Parents Organization of the Philippines is a group of men and women who are separated from their partners, aimed at assisting and supporting single parents in overcoming the challenges of single parenthood and learning how to navigate their new roles.

At the same event, Oppus, along with Aumentado, Bacatan, and provincial administrator Asteria Caberte, turned over the certificate of registration of the Collective Negotiation Agreement (CNA) to the Bohol Provincial Employees League (BOPEL) led by Susan Datahan, its president.

This was after Aumentado approved the CNA agreement with BOPEL, which is effective from Jan. 11 to Jan. 10, 2027, to benefit Capitol employees.

Meanwhile, female Capitol employees gathered for a symposium on women’s health and wellness at the Bohol Cultural Center, organized by the Bohol Women’s Association of Women in Government Service (BAWIGS) Multi-Purpose Cooperative.

The forum addressed important concerns such as mental health, kidney disease, and basic HIV/AIDS education with resource speakers from the Provincial Health Office, including Dr. Emerson Mateo, Teresita Sarigumba, and Maricel Israel.

Under the Aumentado-Balite administration, the provincial government rallies to promote equal rights and inclusivity through its gender and development (GAD) program dubbed “ArisGADA”.

It was established in May 2023. (PIMO/JSS)
