Ubi (purple yam) food processors in Bohol have participated in basic food safety training on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at the Ceremonial Hall.
The event was organized by the Bohol Economic Development and Investment Promotion Office (Bedipo).
Resource person Doris Isabel Racho, Information Officer of the Department of Agriculture – Agricultural Training Institute (Ati) in Central Visayas, tackled topics related to food safety such as proper hand washing, food hazards, food-borne illnesses, and others.
The participants were ubi food processors in Bohol, specifically from Tagbilaran City, Baclayon, Loon, Valencia, San Miguel, Carmen, Jagna, Corella, Cortes, Dauis, Capitols’s Provincial Enterprise Enterprise Management Office – Cafe Caloy, and Bohol Biodiversity Complex.
Other related trainings on food safety were continued in the afternoon session.
The training was one of the activities undertaken in support of the Bohol Provincial Ordinance known as the “Ubi Development Framework of the Province of Bohol,” a strategic initiative aimed at promoting and enhancing the local Ubi industry as aligned with Gov. Aris Aumentado’s Strategic Change Agenda. (PiMO/JSS)
