The Bohol Employment and Placement Office–Public Employment Service Office (Bepo-Peso) actively participated in the Public Employment Service Office Managers Association of the Philippines (Pesomap) Central Visayas Meeting held on June 16–17, 2026, in Cebu City.
Maria Vilma Yorong, Bepo-Peso head and provincial Peso manager, joined Peso leaders and national officers of Pesomap.
They discussed strengthening employment facilitation services and advancing labor and workforce development initiatives in Region VII.
The activity, which focuses on strengthening the region’s workforce, fully supports the Strategic Governance Roadmap of the provincial government of Bohol under the leadership of Governor Aris Aumentado.
Furthermore, the two-day meeting served as a platform for participants to discuss current labor and employment concerns, exchange best practices, strengthen regional collaboration, and formulate strategies aimed at improving the delivery of employment services nationwide.
As part of the activity, the delegation visited a job fair in Lapu-Lapu City to observe employment facilitation initiatives and engage with local stakeholders on effective job-matching strategies.
The visit also provided valuable insights into innovative approaches that could further enhance Peso operations and service delivery in Bohol, a Unesco Global Geopark.
The group also paid a courtesy call to the City Mayor of Lapu-Lapu City, Maria Cynthia King-Chan, where discussions centered on opportunities for inter-local government collaboration and the sharing of best practices in employment generation, workforce development, and labor market interventions.
The engagement underscored the importance of strengthening partnerships among local government units in addressing employment challenges and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities.
Likewise, the delegation visited the Cebu Provincial Capitol for a courtesy call with Governor Pamela Baricuatro.
Discussions highlighted the significance of stronger collaboration among local government units in promoting inclusive economic growth, enhancing workforce competitiveness, and expanding access to employment opportunities.
Furthermore, in preparation for the upcoming Pesomap national congress, the delegation also conducted ocular inspections of JPark Island Resort and Waterpark and Mactan Newtown.
The site visits enabled the group to assess the facilities’ suitability, accessibility, and capacity to host a large-scale event.
Through such meetings, Bohol continues to pursue sustainable and inclusive development by investing in human capital, strengthening workforce opportunities, and fostering partnerships that contribute to long-term economic growth. (PIMO/RJG)
