1,007 Bohol barangays earn ‘highly functional’ rating in 2026 anti-drug assessment

TAGBILARAN CITY — A total of 1,007 barangays across Bohol have been recognized for successfully complying with the 2026 Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (Badac) Functionality Assessment, highlighting the province’s continuing efforts to strengthen grassroots anti-drug programs and promote safer communities.

The recognition was announced by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-Bohol Province through a post on its official Facebook page on June 17, 2026.

The annual assessment evaluates the effectiveness of barangays in implementing community-based anti-drug initiatives, including drug prevention campaigns, rehabilitation support programs, advocacy activities, and measures aimed at maintaining peace and order.

According to DILG-Bohol, the compliant barangays demonstrated strong leadership, active participation from community members, and sustained adherence to national policies against illegal drugs. The assessment also underscored the crucial role of local governments in advancing anti-drug efforts at the grassroots level.

The department commended barangay officials, members of the Badac, partner agencies, and various stakeholders whose collaboration contributed to the successful implementation of anti-drug programs in their respective communities.

Among the municipalities and city with barangays that received the Highly Functional rating were Alburquerque, Alicia, Anda, Antequera, Baclayon, Balilihan, Batuan, Bien Unido, Bilar, Buenavista, Calape, Candijay, Carmen, Catigbian, Clarin, Corella, Cortes, Dagohoy, Danao, Dauis, Dimiao, Duero, Garcia Hernandez, Guindulman, Inabanga, Jagna, Getafe, Lila, Loay, Loboc, Loon, Mabini, Maribojoc, Panglao, Pilar, President Carlos P. Garcia, Sagbayan, San Isidro, San Miguel, Sevilla, Sierra Bullones, Sikatuna, Tagbilaran City, Talibon, Trinidad, Tubigon, Ubay, and Valencia.

Among the local government units with the highest number of highly functional barangays were Inabanga with 50 barangays, Loon with 47, Maribojoc and President Carlos P. Garcia with 22 each, Jagna with 34, Balilihan with 33, Valencia with 33, Calape with 32, Garcia Hernandez with 31, and Carmen with 28.

DILG-Bohol expressed hope that the recognition would encourage all barangays to sustain and further strengthen their anti-drug campaigns, ensuring that communities remain protected from the harmful effects of illegal drugs.

The provincial government of Bohol, led by Governor Aris Aumentado, likewise welcomed the achievement, emphasizing the importance of public safety, peace and order, and sustainable development in advancing the province’s growth.

Officials noted that the accomplishment supports Bohol’s broader development goals under its Strategic Governance Roadmap and reinforces efforts to promote inclusive growth across the province, which is recognized as a Unesco Global Geopark.

The Badac Functionality Assessment serves as a key mechanism in measuring the performance of local anti-drug councils and ensuring that anti-illegal drug programs remain active, responsive, and community-driven.
