Booy house fire leaves one injured in Tagbilaran City

TAGBILARAN CITY — A two-storey residential building was damaged in a fire that broke out in Purok 4, Barangay Booy, Tagbilaran City on Sunday morning, May 24.

According to initial reports from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the fire started at around 9:01 a.m. at the house owned by Lopino Alcala.

The affected structure has an estimated floor area of about 100 square meters.

Firefighters declared the blaze under control at 9:27 a.m. before it was fully extinguished at 9:37 a.m.

One person, identified as Lemuel Alcala, sustained light wounds and scratches during the incident. No fatalities were reported.

Tagbilaran City Mayor Jane Yap expressed gratitude to residents and concerned citizens who immediately alerted authorities about the fire.

“Daghang salamat sa atong mga silingan ug concerned citizens nga nanawag dayon sa authorities. Ang inyong paspas nga aksyon dako kaayong tabang aron malikayan ang mas dakong kadaot,” Yap said.

The mayor also thanked the personnel of the Bureau of Fire Protection in Tagbilaran led by Fire Supt. Angelie Salva for their swift response to the incident.

Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the fire and the estimated cost of damage.
