TAGBILARAN CITY — A 39-year-old man was arrested while processing his police clearance after authorities discovered that he had an existing warrant of arrest for rape by sexual assault issued in Zambales.
According to Lt. Col. Joey Bicoy, chief of the Tagbilaran City Police Station, the arrest took place at around 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, at the National Police Clearance Section along Calceta Street in Barangay Cogon, Tagbilaran City.
The suspect, identified only as “Edward Paul,” 39, married, is a resident of Block 4, Buenaflor, Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat, and was temporarily staying in Purok 3, Barangay Bingag, Dauis, Bohol.
Police said the operation was conducted by the Tracker Team and the National Police Clearance Section of the Tagbilaran City Police Station after verification of records during the suspect’s police clearance processing revealed an active warrant of arrest.
Bicoy said the warrant was issued in connection with a case of rape by sexual assault under Article 266-A(2) of the Revised Penal Code, as amended by Republic Act No. 11648.
The warrant of arrest was issued by Anna Marie Mendoza, presiding judge of Regional Trial Court Branch 99, 3rd Judicial Region in Olongapo City, Zambales, on Oct. 21, 2025.
The court recommended bail at P200,000 for the suspect’s temporary liberty.
The suspect is currently detained at the custodial facility of the Tagbilaran City Police Station pending proper documentation, disposition, and legal proceedings.
