2nd fire on Sunday: P3.5-M damage reported in Barangay Manga hardware store fire

TAGBILARAN CITY — A fire hit a hardware store in Barangay Manga on Sunday evening, May 24, marking the second fire incident in the village within five days and the second fire reported in the city on the same day.

The blaze occurred at CMLM Hardware Store, also known as Mercantile, located along CPG North Avenue in Purok 1, Barangay Manga, in front of a Palawan Pawnshop branch.

According to initial reports from fire authorities, the establishment is owned by Elizabeth Tomo.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) received the fire call at 6:58 p.m. and raised the first alarm at 7:04 p.m. Firefighters declared the fire under control at 7:27 p.m. before it was fully extinguished at 7:29 p.m.

Responding units included BFP fire trucks 1, 2, and 3, along with ambulances from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) and Tarsier Ambulance.

Authorities said two structures were partially burned, affecting an estimated 120 square meters. Initial estimates placed the damage at around P3.5 million.

No casualties, injuries, or fatalities were reported in the incident.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
