Ubay recorded two new cases of COVID-19 —a locally stranded individual (LSI) and a patient who was admitted in a hospital.
In a Facebook advisory, Ubay Mayor Constantino Reyes confirmed that one patient is a locally stranded individual (LSI), while the other has no travel history.
The latter was admitted at Don Emilio Del Valle Memorial Hospital in Ubay after experiencing some symptoms.
Both are now under isolation in a quarantine facilities.
However, Reyes ordered on Friday, July 17, a lockdown in some areas in Barangay Tapal where the second patient came from for contact tracing.
According to Engr. Riche Ibale, Purok 6 President of Barangay Tapal and Environmental Management Specialist II at Ubay LGU, the lockdown in Purok 6 started last night, July 17.
It has not been decided until when the partial lockdown will be lifted.
Law enforcement authorities were sent to ensure strict implementation of lockdown and health protocols in the area.
Affected residents are not allowed to go out of their houses.
The local government unit of Ubay has provided food packs during the lockdown.
