Bohol province has recorded its fifth death from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), Governor Arthur Yap announced on Thursday evening, August 6, 2020.

The patient who had a history of severe cough was pronounced dead on arrival at the Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital (GCGMH).

The Covid-19 infection was confirmed later after the result of swab test was released. Swab test was still taken by hospital staff since the patient was a COVID-19 suspect prior to his transfer to GCGMH.

“Balikon ko sa paghangyo ang tanan, sundon nato ang atong mga lagda kabahin sa pagsul-ob sa face mask, physical distancing ug pagbaton sa kalimpyo. Ayaw ug kumpyansa. Labing maayo, likayi ang pagsuroy-suroy, pagpuyo sa panimalay kung walay importanteng lakwon. “-Bohol Gov. Arthur Yap

Yap said the Governor Celestino Gallares Hospital Molecular Laboratory informed him of the results.

He said the patient had no travel history, not even a locally stranded individual (LSI) and a returning overseas Filipino worker (OFW).

Yap added he already informed Bien Unido Mayor Rene Borenaga about the results for immediate contact tracing.

The entire barangay where the positive person lives has been placed on lockdown.

The patient, who had severe cough, was taken to Garcia Memorial Provincial Hospital and was intubated there. Because the patient was a Covid-19 suspect, the patient was referred to GCGMH in Tagbilaran City. However, the patient died while on the way to the hospital.

Swab samples were taken before the patient was buried immediately.
