The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has brought its services closer to communities through its Permitting on Wheels initiative, while also streamlining processes to make doing business with the agency more accessible.
The Permitting On Wheels, simultaneously conducted nationwide, is one way to make the people feel about the government. Here in the city it was held at the Island City Mall (ICM), servicing a total of 303 clients, according to a DNR employee.
“The DENR Permitting on Wheels continues to deliver faster, more accessible, and people-centered environmental services—empowering communities and turning service into action,” it said.
The endeavour was done on April 14-15 in partnership with key leaders and stakeholders for what it called a “shared commitment to responsive governance, environmental stewardship and ease of doing business.”
According to Philippines Info Agency (PIA), DENR’s mobile offered an array of services, like Environmental Compliance Certificates (ECC), permits to operate for air and water quality, discharge permits, Pollution Control Officer accreditation, hazardous waste registration, mining permits (MPSA, OTP, MOEP), Free Patent applications, land surveys, foreshore leasing, and forestry and wildlife permits such as tree cutting, bamboo, and chainsaw registration.
“DENR officials and local leaders led the rollout, pushing for more efficient public service delivery, it said.
Gov. Aris Aumentado, City Mayor Jane Cajes-Yap, Wilson Henson, Atty. John Edward Ang, Provincial Environment Natural Resources Officer (PENRO) Colis and other environment officials graced the event, especially during the opening program.
Wilson Henson succeeded Colis as Bohol PENRO in a simple but fitting ceremony at the Hotel KEW. Atty. Ang is the new regional director of the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB). (RVO)
