TAGBILARAN CITY — Bohol Light marked its achievements under Primelectric management and outlined plans for 2026 during a press conference at Bohol Tropics Resort on Monday, January 12.

President and chief executive officer Roel Castro, joined by chief operating officer Raul Galano, reported that the utility has already reached 24,138 subscribers just one year after the management takeover, citing this as a significant milestone for the company.

The growth, they said, was driven by initiatives such as proactive barangay visits for Information Education Campaigns (IEC), faster site inspections, close coordination with the Office of the Building Official for CFEI applications, and a reduction of application requirements from 11 to just four, streamlining the process for new connections.

To improve customer convenience, Bohol Light expanded its payment network, partnering with more local and national banks, e-wallets, and non-bank payment providers for online and over-the-counter transactions. The company also installed Cash Deposit Machines (CDMs) for self-service payments and acquired new service vehicles to enhance response time and customer support.

For 2026, Bohol Light plans major infrastructure projects, including the construction of a 69KV sub-transmission line from Corella NGCP Substation to San Isidro, additional distribution feeders in Dampas and Poblacion, and the installation of Automatic Circuit Reclosers and Load Break Switches.

The company also plans to build a new warehouse, Meter Lab, and Transformer Testing Facility, upgrade Cabawan and San Isidro lines from single-phase to 3-phase using tree wire, relocate poles affected by road widening, and implement Geographic Information System (GIS) integration.

Other programs include electrification of informal settlements, installation of more CDMs in malls and barangay halls, and expanded Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

Bohol Light executives said these efforts are aimed at enhancing service reliability, improving efficiency, and supporting the province’s development.
