Boholano reported missing found dead in Cebu City creek

CEBU CITY — A 28-year-old man from Bohol who was earlier reported missing was found dead in a creek in Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City on Tuesday morning, January 13.

The victim was identified as Tobby Olayan, a field engineer employed by a large company and a resident of Barangay Mabolo. He is originally from Barangay Dao, Tagbilaran City, Bohol.

The body was discovered at around 8 a.m. floating in a creek in Barangay Mabolo. Olayan’s family later confirmed his identity.

According to police, Olayan was last seen alive on Monday afternoon, January 12, at around 2:05 p.m., walking near an apartment in Kasambagan, Cebu City.

When he failed to return home, his family reported him missing and sought help from authorities and the public through social media.

Following the report, personnel of the Mabolo Police Station reviewed closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage in areas where Olayan was believed to have passed.

Police said the footage showed him walking in Kasambagan, which was the last confirmed sighting of the victim.

Authorities have yet to determine the cause of death.

Police said an investigation is ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding Olayan’s death and to determine whether foul play was involved.

Further details are expected as the investigation progresses.
