The Telephone and Radio System Integrated Emergency Response (TaRSIER117) has been adjudged as Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Affiliated Reserve Unit of the Year.
The recognition was conferred last Sept 30, during the culmination ceremony of the 44th National Reservist Week (NRW) held at Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City.
The NRW is annually celebrated to recognize and honor the heroism and selfless service rendered by reservists to the country and to the people.
Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro with Gen. Romeo Brawner, AFP Chief of Staff, presented the award to Jose Aleto Requeron, the rescue unit’s chief.
This marks the second time TaRSIER 117 was given this award after the first in 2014.
Anthony Damalerio, PDRRMO chief, congratulated the team on the achievement that demonstrates the organization’s consistent excellence and dedication to service.
TaRSIER 117, the operations and warning division of Bohol’s Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO), was created by the Provincial Government of Bohol under Executive Order No. 5, series of 2010, and further institutionalized under Provincial Ordinance No. 2013-006.
It is an AFP Affiliate Signal Company per General Order No. 708 and by virtue of an earlier memorandum of agreement between AFP and the provincial government.
“We have to build-up our reserve force hand in hand with building-up non-military civil defense unit particularly for our community. This is in order to secure our communities through the benefits of the laws of war that they are not be combatants and targets for hostile actions,” Teodoro said in his keynote speech. (PIMO/LMS)
