TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol — Renowned urban planning firm Palafox Associates, together with Palafox Architecture, has completed the Urban Development Plan of Tagbilaran City, laying out a long-term roadmap for the Bohol capital’s transformation into a smart, resilient, and livable city by 2050.

The plan was led by Felino “Jun” Palafox Jr., founder and principal architect and urban planner of the Palafox Group. It envisions Tagbilaran as a well-balanced and future-ready urban center, strengthening its role as the province’s primary service hub and engine of growth.

According to the firm, the development blueprint emphasizes balanced spatial growth, efficient mobility systems, strong city branding and investment strategies, and people-centered urban design. These components aim to address the city’s long-term needs while ensuring sustainability, inclusivity, and economic competitiveness.

Among the plan’s key priority areas are the proposed Civic and Trade Hub, the Sports Complex and Community Housing development, and a Floating Market integrated with a Mangrove Boardwalk.

These flagship projects are designed to harmonize economic activity with cultural heritage, environmental protection, and community well-being.

The Urban Development Plan is aligned with the national long-term vision, AmBisyon Natin 2040, and reflects Tagbilaran City’s goals of responsive governance, active stakeholder participation, and inclusive urban development.

Palafox Associates noted that the plan underscores the importance of forward-looking and integrated planning, highlighting how decisions made today can help build resilient cities capable of serving future generations.
