PANGLAO, BOHOL — A motorcycle driver and his passenger were killed after colliding with a Ford Ranger pickup driven by a US citizen early Thursday morning, October 16, in Panglao town.

Police Staff Sergeant Arcamo of the Panglao Police Station identified the fatalities as a 42-year-old man from Barangay Tawala, Panglao, and a 26-year-old woman from Mabini town.

Initial investigation revealed that the motorcycle and the pickup were traveling in opposite directions along the circumferential road in Barangay Lourdes when the pickup suddenly slammed into the motorcycle.

“The impact was so strong that both victims were thrown against a post, causing their instant death,” Arcamo said.

The two victims died on the spot, while the foreign driver was rushed to a hospital in Tagbilaran City for treatment.

Arcamo said the pickup was reportedly speeding at the time of the accident. Authorities are still verifying reports that the driver may have been under the influence of alcohol.
