Tagbilaran launches Saulog 2026 as City marks 461st Blood Compact anniversary

TAGBILARAN CITY — The City Government of Tagbilaran on Monday, March 16, officially launches Saulog Tagbilaran 2026 as the city commemorates the 461st Blood Compact Anniversary with a ceremony at the Tagbilaran City Friendship Park.

The celebration begins with a Holy Mass at the St. Joseph the Worker Cathedral-Shrine Parish.

Following the Mass, Jane Yap will lead the wreath-laying and floral offering in honor of the historic Blood Compact, a symbol of friendship and alliance that remains central to the city’s identity and heritage.

Messages are also expected from John Geesnell “Baba” Yap II, Erico Aristotle Aumentado, and Mayor Yap, highlighting the importance of preserving cultural heritage while strengthening tourism initiatives in the province.

One of the highlights of the program will be the presentation of the official candidates for Mutya sa Tagbilaran 2026 and the Saulog Festival King and Queen.

The launching program will conclude with a message from Adam Relson Jala.

City officials said Saulog Tagbilaran 2026, with the theme “One Family, One City,” will feature a series of cultural, sports, and community events aimed at celebrating Tagbilaran’s identity and engaging residents and visitors.

Among the major events lined up are the Saulog Sports Opening Ceremony on March 22, Saulog Tagbilaran Interschool Quiz Bee Competition Year 3 on March 23, Mutya sa Tagbilaran on April 19, Saulog Festival King and Queen on April 22, and the Saulog Street Dancing Competition and Ritual Showdown on April 26.

Other highlights include DuEkSam Night on May 1 and the Maoy sa Mayo Saulog Concert on May 3.

Regular festival activities will also return, including the Saulog Tagbilaran Bazaar and Nightly Entertainment from April 6 to May 3 at the Tagbilaran City Hall grounds, Kombira sa Tagbilaran on April 25, Himog Huni Original Songwriting Competition Ikawalong Hugna on April 28, and the St. Joseph the Worker Fluvial Parade on April 29.

The Tagbilaran City government is inviting Boholanos and visitors to join the festivities as the city celebrates its heritage, culture, and community spirit through Saulog Tagbilaran 2026.
