BILAR, Bohol – A passenger bus overturned along a curved section of the national highway in Bilar town on Tuesday morning, July 29, leaving at least 15 people injured.
The incident occurred at around 8:40 a.m. involving a Southern Star bus (plate number JVL 125, body number 12076), which was traveling from Carmen to Tagbilaran City.
Initial investigation revealed that the driver allegedly lost control of the steering wheel while navigating the winding road, causing the bus to flip onto its side.
Responders from the Bilar Rescue Unit quickly arrived at the scene and transported the injured passengers to Tagbilaran City for medical treatment.
The bus driver, identified as Jernal Alcantara, later surrendered to the Loboc Police Station, where he is currently detained pending investigation.
