Senator Christopher “Bong” Go graced the 169th Foundation Day of Candijay town on Wednesday, Nov. 29.
He was welcomed by Mayor Thamar Olaivar and local officials.
Go, who chairs the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, personally checked on the operations of the Candijay Super Malasakit Center at Barangay Cruz.
There will be 13 Super Health Centers in Bohol province.
Super Health Centers are designed to focus on primary care, consultation, and early detection of diseases, further strengthening the healthcare sector in the country, especially in rural communities. It will also help decongest hospitals, according to Go who continues to advocate for its establishment in strategic areas across the country in coordination with the Department of Health.

Meanwhile, Bohol has two Malasakit Centers. They are at Don Emilio del Valle Memorial Hospital in Ubay town and Gov. Celestino Gallares Medical Center in Tagbilaran City. Malasakit Centers are one-stop shops for medical assistance programs by concerned agencies, including the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Health, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, that aim to reduce patients’ hospital expenses to the lowest amount possible.
Go proceeded to the town’s gymnasium to attend the first Bahandihay Festival as part of the town’s foundation day celebration.
The event was also attended by Rep. Alexie Tutor and some mayors.

In his speech, the senator reiterated his commitment to supporting efforts to enhance the delivery of public health services in communities.
The senator hopes that the services of the Malasakit Centers in Bohol will continue, acknowledging the program’s tremendous impact in providing much needed assistance to millions of poor and indigent patients across the country.
He also reiterated his commitment to supporting the establishment of more Super Health Centers in Bohol, considering how they can significantly help reduce hospital occupancy rates while bringing government medical services closer to the grassroots.
