The province of Bohol will commemorate the 127th birthday anniversary of its most illustrious son, former President Carlos Polestico Garcia, also known by his initials, CPG on Nov. 4.

Led by Gov. Aris Aumentado, the provincial government will spearhead the commemorative activities which will begin with flag raising and wreath laying ceremonies at the park named in his honor at 7 a. m. on Nov. 4.

A program will follow at the Ceremonial Hall of the Capitol where CPG awards will be conferred on living exemplars of true service to the Boholano people.

Boholano topnotchers will also be recognized during the program.

Heads of offices of the provincial government as well as national government agencies are expected to grace the occasion.

A two-day chess tournament will also be held at the Bohol Cultural Center on Nov. 4-5 as part of the celebration.

The late President was a chess enthusiast hence the tournament in remembrance of him.

This year’s CPG Day honors the life and legacy of CPG, the eighth president of the Philippines, with the theme “Buhing Panig-Ingnan sa Tinuod nga Pangalagad Ngadto sa Katawhan.” (PIMO/LMS)
