TAGBILARAN CITY – Seven houses were destroyed in a fire that broke out behind Bohol Wisdom School on Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 7, affecting 49 individuals, including a newborn baby and an 11-month-old child, according to Mayor Jane Yap.

The Tagbilaran City 911 Emergency Team—composed of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), and other response units—quickly responded to the scene, preventing the blaze from spreading further and ensuring the safety of residents.

The affected families are now temporarily sheltered at the Bohol Wisdom School (BWS) Gym, which has been set up with individual tents for each family. The City Health Office, General Services Office (GSO), and City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) are currently assessing their condition and providing assistance.

The City Government has also committed to provide food and basic necessities to the displaced families.

For those who wish to help, a HELP DESK has been set up inside the BWS Gym to accept donations, especially for babies and children—such as milk, diapers, school supplies, canned goods, rice, clothes, and other essentials.
