The PinasLakas Vaccination of the Department of Health (DOH) was held at Island City Mall today, Sept. 10.
Regional Director Dr. Jaime Bernadas of the Department of Health Region 7, Regional led the launch of PinasLakas Vaccination.
Bernadas said he wanted to educate the people of the importance of getting Covid-19 vaccines and boosters.
He said studies show that boosters provide long-term protection from Covid-19 variants, and possibly future variants, too.
Being fully vaccinated and getting your booster is extremely important, he said.
“Ayaw nato hulata nga ang bakuna mapildi na unya sa COVID. Kinahanglan ang atong bakuna maoy makapildi sa COVID,” Bernadas urged Boholanos.
The event was also graced by Bohol Gov. Aris Aumentado, Tagbilaran City Mayor Jane Yap and former Tagbilaran City Mayor Baba Yap.
Aumentado and Baba received their Covid-19 booster shots.
Aumentado said vaccinations can help the workforce and economy recover from the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Arun mubalik ang atong ekonomiya, kinahanglan nga vaccinated na ang tanan aron mo-welcome sa tanang investors nga mo-invest sa atong probinsya,” said Aumentado.
“Para magpadayon ang atong economic recovery, karun daghang investors interesado sa Tagbilaran City and Bohol, palihog magpa-booster na gyud ta,” said Jane.
Mayor Yap said vaccines and boosters are available in Tagbilaran City residents and non-residents. She would activate the mobile vaccination to reach out for the seniors.
PinasLakas vaccination campaign is an intensified vaccination and booster drive which aims to fully-vaccinate 90% of the A2 or Senior Citizen population, as well as increase booster dose coverage to 50% of the total target population on the first 100 days of the Marcos administration.
It is also a way of the government to make vaccines easily accessible to the public and to increase the number of Filipinos who received Covid-19 booster.
