A bridge collapsed while a trailer-truck was crossing on Thursday (June 16), leading to traffic disruption on the provincial highway in Catigbian town.

The incident took place in Barangay Alegria when a 12-wheel trailer-truck carrying sand was crossing the narrow Borja Bridge, leading to the vehicle falling on the river bed.

Catigbian police said there were no report of injuries.

Truck driver Nemerico Paredes, 46, said when he crossed the bridge, it suddenly collapsed.

“Kalit lang minghugno paglabay nako,” said Paredes.

“Sige naman ko agi diri karun lang nahitabo,” he added.

The bridge has a 20-ton load limit.

Authorities advised motorists to find alternate routes.

The incident in Catigbian was the second bridge to collapse in Bohol after the
Clarin Bridge in Loay town that killed four including a tourist, and injured 31.
