CEBU CITY- The release from quarantine of two Boholanos who were co-passengers of the earlier reported Filipino confirmed to have been infected with the UK variant of the SARS-CoV-2 variant is no cause for alarm.
Dr. Mary Jean Loreche, spokesperson of the Department of Health Central Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH-7), said this after the address of the said individuals were publicized.
Loreche said all of them tested negative for the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test and all of them have also undergone the strict facility-based 14-day quarantine.
“That we are not here to create panic in our information. This information is supposed to be treated as learnings, as guide and for us to allay the fears of our kababayans,” Loreche said on Monday, Jan. 25.
The two Boholanos were part of the six passengers from Central Visayas identified by DOH Region 7 who were on the same Emirates Flight 332 from Dubai.
They were both asymptomatic and were released from quarantine last Saturday, January 23, 2021.
