Former Tagbilaran City mayor Baba Yap declared on Tuesday that he will run for Congressman in the first District of Bohol in the May 2025 elections.
This was confirmed by mayors who attended the meeting at the Bohol Tropics Resort.
The mayors who witnessed the said declaration were Cortes Mayor Lynn Iven Lim, Corella Mayor Manju Lim, Maribojoc Mayor Manuta, Calape Mayor Herrera, Antequera Mayor Pahang, Baclayon Mayor Alvin Uy, Dauis Vice-Mayor Miriam Sumaylo and other officials.
Yap’s wife, City Mayor Jane Yap, was also present.
Yap will face incumbent Cong. Edgar Chatto if the latter will seek reelection for his last term.
In an interview with dyTR with Lito Responte, Yap said he will support Gov. Aris Aumentado as his governor.
The filing of certificate of candidacy (COC) will be in the first week of October.
