Children of the Ati tribe in Loay town were given gift packs by troops of the 47th Infantry (Katapatan) Battalion on Saturday, December 26, 2020.
The 47th Infantry (Katapatan) Battalion partnered with JCI Chocolate Hills organized a gift-giving Activity to the Ati Tribe of Barangay Calvario in Loay.
35 Ati children received school supplies courtesy of JCI Chocolate Hills.
Food packs from the 47th IB made 61 recipient households feel the spirit of sharing this Christmas season.
62nd Special Action Company and members of Youth For Peace Philippines participated as well in the activity with the hope of providing smiles on the faces of our IP brothers and sisters. Adding spice to the joyous activity, Hon. Joseph L. Corciega of Loon Municipal SK Federation gave coned ice cream to the kids and kids-at-heart which they sumptuously enjoyed.
“The Ati tribe is very grateful and welcomes you with all our heart. We have always been happy seeing the Army as this is already the 3rd time they have visited us. No matter what the reason is, we would always welcome you.” according to John Carlo Besida Sr., chieftain of the Ati Tribe.
The belongingness they have felt by the surprise visit is very evident in the glowing faces of the Ati’s. Expressing their joy and gratitude as each of them receives the simple gift through the thank you’s and Merry Christmas brought sense of satisfaction to the organizers. To give back, the Chieftain and his son prepared a presentation depicting their tradition and did an exhibition using their traditional bow and arrow. This was greatly appreciated by the organizers applauding the beautiful Ati Tribe.
More than what one gives, it’s the thought that counts. Yuletide season is a time of sharing one’s blessings and that even in the simplest manner makes others happy.
