DIMIAO, Bohol — A family in Barangay Oac, Dimiao, Bohol, received a new home on Tuesday, August 11, through the 129th Libreng Alagad ug Balay Project, a housing initiative supported by the provincial government and its partner agencies.
Governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado personally turned over the house to farmer Jude Raro, his wife Merasol, and their three children in Purok 1, Barangay Oac.
The Raro family had lost their home when Typhoon Odette (Rai) struck Bohol in 2021. The family later repaired what remained of their house and continued living there while rebuilding their lives.
Jude earns a living as a farmer, while Merasol works as a helper during fiestas and other occasions to supplement the family’s income.
The newly turned-over house is intended to provide the family with a safer and more secure place to live and marks a new start after years of dealing with the effects of the typhoon.
The project was implemented through a partnership with Balay sa Paglaum, a housing initiative and personal advocacy of Gov. Aumentado and Rep. Vanessa Aumentado.
The initiative also received support from the Municipal Government of Dimiao, led by Mayor Randolph L. Ang; the Dimiao Municipal Police Station, headed by PLT Urcel A. Cristal; the Oac Barangay Council, led by Barangay Captain Edgar Sajol; and the Philippine Army.
The turnover ceremony was attended by PLTCOL Joseph P. Berondo, Bohol Police Provincial Office deputy provincial director for operations, and Major Joseph Lopena of the Police Community Affairs and Development Unit.
The Bohol Police Provincial Office, under Provincial Director ColZ Patricio C. Degay Jr., said it would continue working with communities and partner agencies in initiatives aimed at providing assistance and opportunities to families in need.
The Raro family’s new home is the 129th house delivered under the Libreng Alagad ug Balay Project.
