As the coronavirus pandemic continues to affect fishing communities in Bohol province, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) – Central Visayas has intervened by setting up an outreach project.
The office, through the BFAR Employees Multipurpose Cooperative (BFAREMCO), allocated about P20,000 to provide relief assistance to islet residents whose livelihood rely mainly on fishing.
The Bfar 7 – Bohol Provincial Fishery Office (PFO), led by Candido Samijon, took over the task from preparing the relief items to delivering them to the Bien Unido Municipal Government on Thursday, August 20.
The relief goods, which consists of 355 food packs, are on their way to Malingin Island, which was the chosen recipient since the islet has been placed under lockdown due to the increasing coronavirus cases that affected the livelihood of locals there.
