In a society where a person is judged based on how they look, here comes a woman who bravely showed that beauty should not be limited by what society tells you.

Genina Abrau, former Boholana beauty queen, recently shared images of herself – bald and with no make-up.

She’s not sporting a new look or doing this for any challenge.

It’s her bare-it-all story of how she bravely fought cancer after being diagnosed by it more than a month ago.

Genina, who was crowned Miss Philippines Earth – Bohol 2016 and Miss Bohol 2014 candidate, still maintained her big smile despite going through chemotherapy and had to lose her hair in return.

“Thank you all for taking care of me and being with me in this fight 💪🥰 I am truly blessed to have you all in my life.”

They say, a hair is a girl’s crowning glory.

But even without a hair, Genina still manages to brighten up everyone’s day by also sharing her message of hope after turning a year older.

“Thank you Lord for the gift of life 🙏😇 Thank you po sa lahat ng nag greet and sa mga nag pa video message ayiee 🥰😍😘 Thank you for all your well wishes and prayers ❤️😇,” she said.

Last July 6, she was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

According to Cancer.org, Non-Hodgkin lymphoma (also known as non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, NHL, or sometimes just lymphoma) is a cancer that starts in white blood cells called lymphocytes, which are part of the body’s immune system.

NHL usually starts in lymph nodes or other lymph tissue, but it can sometimes affect the skin, it added.

Genina said she just finished her second cycle of chemotheraphy.

“My journey just started and malayo layo pa sa finish line 😅 At dahil birthday ko ngayon 🥳 I want to thank my very supportive family, friends and boyfren (charot🤣). Thank you all for taking care of me and being with me in this fight 💪🥰 I am truly blessed to have you all in my life. ❤️🥰, ” she said.

She even reminded her fellow Boholanos to stay at home this pandemic.

“Stay at home and keep safe everyone! 😘 Fighting!! 💪, ” she added.

Genina’s post earned her admiration for her bravery from her friends and fans.

Everyone prays for her fast recovery.
