It was no less than President Rodrigo Roa Duterte who announced that Bohol province will still remain under the General Community Quarantine (GCQ) status based on the recommendations by the Inter-Agency Task Force on the management of Emerging Infectious Disease (IATF-EID).

He made this announcement during his “Talk to the People Address” on the evening of June 15, Monday.

Six areas in Central Visayas are placed under GCQ which include Bohol, Cebu province, Negros Oriental, Siquijor, Mandaue City, and Lapu-Lapu City.

Prior to this announcement, Governor Arthur Yap had already issued Executive Order 31 further extending the province-wide GCQ until June 30, 2020

Meanwhile, the IATF-EID placed Cebu City under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) starting June 16 because of the “increasing number of new cases and widespread community transmission in majority of barangays in the city”.
According to them, the consistent case doubling time of less than seven (7) days and significant increase in critical care utilization against critical care capacity were the reasons cited why Cebu City reverted back to ECQ.

As of June 13, Cebu City has a cumulative total of 3,434 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Of the number, there were already 1,858 recoveries and 37 deaths.

Talisay City, a component city under the province of Cebu, is placed under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) until June 30, 2020, for the same reasons.

Metro Manila, meanwhile, remains under general community quarantine (GCQ).

Likewise placed under GCQ until month’s end are Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Santiago City in Region II; Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Tarlac, Olongapo City in Region III; Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon in Region IV-A, and Occidental Mindoro for Luzon.

For Mindanao, Davao City and Zamboanga City in Mindanao are under GCQ.

The rest of the country remains under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) until June 30, 2020.

As of Monday, the Philippines has 26,420 confirmed COVID-19 cases with 6,252 recoveries and 1,098 deaths.
