After completing their 14-day quarantine, the first batch of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) staying at The Bellevue Resort Bohol was finally sent home on Sunday afternoon.
Bohol Gov. Arthur Yap was there to personally send them off.
In his message aired live on his Facebook page, Gov. Yap narrated how the provincial government and local officials in the municipalities addressed the challenges in accepting returning OFWs as well as Locally Stranded Individuals (LSIs).
Yap urged the OFWs to also help their municipalities by sharing their talents and skills through providing training to fellow Bol-anons.
He also mentioned the possible assistance that the provincial government may give to finance those who would like to start a business.
As a way of expressing their gratitude, a short video presentation was shown showcasing the different videos that the OFWs captured on their journey in coming home to Bohol after losing their jobs due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
They thanked the provincial government, the frontliners, the hotel staff, and government agencies who helped facilitate their safe trip back home.
Before the short send-off program ended, Gov. Yap sang “Pagsubok” popularized by Orient Pearl.
The OFWs also sang with him while waving their hands up in the air.
They also receive blessings and prayers from a priest.
A Holy Mass was also held via live streaming and was presided by Rev. Fr. Leonel Hermogenes M. Grado, Panglao Church, Bohol before the send-off program.
Meanwhile, Gov. Yap also welcomed home the other remaining OFWs still completing their quarantine period at the resort.
He thanked them for their contributions to the country specifically the P85 billion that is used to fund the COVID-19 response in the country.
Yap again offered a song number to the OFWs as a finale. This time, he sang “Every Move I Make” song popularized by David Crowder Band.
On his background, the OFWs were dancing and the others still on quarantine joined from their balconies.
