(UPDATED AS OF JUNE 9, 2020) The Tagbilaran City police are now conducting a hot pursuit operation to arrest the suspect who shot a village councilor and his nephew in Barangay Mansasa, Tagbilaran City past 9 a.m. on Monday, June 8, 2020.

The fatalities were identified as Barangay Mansasa councilor Carolino Balabag Pahang, 64, and his nephew Jobert Loquillano Pahang, 38.

According to a reliable source, who requested anonymity since he is not authorized to speak, told Bohol Island News (BIN) that the suspect was identified as Teodorico Linghon, 65, a former Philippine Army soldier.

Based on the accounts of former village chief Paul Pahang, Jobert’s father, he had a heated argument with his neighbor Linghon before the shooting incident happened.

Linghon accused the Pahang family of digging into his property.

According to the report from the Tagbilaran City PNP, Linghon confronted Jobert about the firewall when personnel from the Office of the Building Official (OBO) came and inspected it.

It was Jobert’s family who complained against Linghon for the said construction of the firewall.

Jobert allegedly ignored Linghon.

This prompted Linghon go back to his house and grabbed his .45 caliber pistol. He shot Jobert several times.

Jobert’s father Paul came to rescue him together with a certain Janice Pahang. The suspect again aimed and fired the gun at them but luckily they were not hit.

Carolino, Paul’s brother who also heard the gunfire, responded to the scene but he was shot too by the armed suspect.

Linghon immediately fled from his house after what happened.

Both Carolino and Jobert were rushed to a private hospital where they were declared dead on arrival. Their cause of death was hemorrhagic shock secondary to multiple gunshot wounds.

Meanwhile, the source told BIN that the suspect’s brother is convincing him to peacefully surrender to authorities.
