The Bohol Arts and Heritage Council (BACH) is calling on all members of the arts community to a general assembly on November 23, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Bohol Cultural Center.
The council will be holding an election of officers of the BACH Council during the assembly.
Created through Provincial Ordinance 2001-017, the council is guided by objectives of creative cultural action; awareness and appreciation of Boholano cultural heritage; venue for consistent cooperation among Boholano artists, cultural workers and institutions; enhancement and revitalization of the culture of life of Boholanos; preservation and protection of heritage; promotion of cultural talents and eco-cultural sites, among others.
The reorganization of the council will help strengthen the program of the current leadership of Gov. Art Yap who has placed of highest importance the preservation and promotion of Boholano culture and arts.
Yap is boosting tourism and agriculture through support for local arts, cuisine, and farm and processed produce.
He also sees Bohol taking part in the upcoming celebration of the 500th year of Christianity in the Philippines.
The reconstitution of the BACH Council is integral in the planning and implementation of activities for the celebration as Christianity is deeply embedded in Boholano culture and tradition.
The BACH Council has a strong partner in these efforts in the Center for Culture and Arts Development office of the provincial government.
