Perpetrators shot the mayor’s at a close perimeter.

Clarin, Misamis Occidental Mayor David Navarro was shot dead inside the van enroute to the Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office on Friday afternoon, October 25.
Navarro was accused of mauling a massage parlor attendant and harassing a female therapist. He was arrested on Thursday afternoon at the Mactan Cebu International Airport.
Police Major Eduardo Sanchez, chief of the Abellana Police Station, said Navarro was wearing a bullet proof vest and was with two police escorts.
A policeman was also injured, Sanchez added.
A witness said that he saw a white van approach the convoy, four masked men bringing high powered firearms shot the car multiple times.
Navarro was named by President Rodrigo Duterte as a narco-politician in 2016.

After Duterte named him as among the 44 personalities on the narco-list but Pagadian listed as his address, Navarro denied his involvement in the illegal drug trade and presented himself to then Philippine National Police (PNP) chief now Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa to clear his name.

He became a municipal councilor for three years and mayor for nine years.
Navarro served as board member in the second district of Misamis Occidental for three years from 2013 to 2016, before he got elected mayor of Clarin.
