TAGBILARAN CITY — A 35-year-old motorcyclist died after his motorcycle collided with an oncoming pickup truck along the national highway in Barangay San Roque, Maribojoc, Bohol, on Sunday afternoon, police said.
The victim, identified as Jun-jun Salimot, 35, of Purok 1, Barangay Guiwanon, Maribojoc, was declared dead on arrival at the Maribojoc District Hospital.
The crash occurred shortly after 4:30 p.m. as Salimot was traveling from Antequera toward Maribojoc, according to the Maribojoc police.
Police said Salimot was traveling at high speed and was attempting to overtake another motorcycle as he approached a curve.
He reportedly lost control of his Honda Click 125, crossed into the opposite lane and crashed into a Mitsubishi pickup traveling toward Villa Aurora in Antequera from Tagbilaran City.
The pickup was driven by a woman, police said.
Responders from the Maribojoc Emergency Response Unit said Salimot sustained severe injuries, including a head wound and a fractured knee.
The impact severely damaged the motorcycle, which struck the pickup’s bumper.
Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
