TALIBON, Bohol — Police seized 622.4 grams of suspected shabu worth an estimated P4,232,320 and arrested two fishermen identified as high-value individuals (HVIs) in a buy-bust operation on Busalian Island here on Friday, August 14.
The operation was conducted by the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group (PNP-DEG) Special Operations Unit 7 (SOU 7) at around 5:27 p.m. in Purok 6, Barangay Busalian.
Arrested were alias “Atan,” 42, a fisherman and resident of Purok 6, and alias “Dencio,” 46, also a fisherman and resident of the area.
Police said the seized drug evidence consisted of one heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet and three knot-tied transparent plastic sachets containing white crystalline substances believed to be shabu.
The operation also resulted in the confiscation of buy-bust money consisting of one genuine P1,000 bill placed on top of 13 photocopied P1,000 bills, as well as a black sling bag.
The operation was led by PCpt. Jose Rodel Villaruel under the direct supervision of PLtCol. Eduardo S. Guevara Jr., in coordination with the IMEG 7 Field Unit, Regional Intelligence Unit 7, RDEU/RSPU 7, PDEA Regional Office 7, and Talibon Municipal Police Station.
The two suspects are currently under PNP-DEG SOU 7 custody and temporarily detained at the Talibon MPS while authorities prepare documents for inquest proceedings before the Bohol Provincial Prosecution Office.
The seized suspected shabu will be turned over to the Bohol Provincial Forensic Unit for laboratory examination. The non-drug evidence will remain under the custody of PNP-DEG SOU 7 for proper disposition.
The suspects are facing charges for alleged violations of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. With a report from Cesar Capangpangan
