TAGBILARAN CITY — The provincial government of Bohol is exploring a digital platform that could provide real-time monitoring of fuel prices and eventually other essential commodities across the province.
The proposed Fuel Watch App was presented by developer Epifelward Niño Amora during a meeting on August 13 at the Governor’s Office of the New Provincial Capitol.
The meeting brought together representatives from the PGBh, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Energy–Visayas Field Office (DOE-VFO), and the Bohol Information and Communication Technology Office.
The free digital platform is designed to provide updated retail price information directly from gasoline stations. It may initially focus on petroleum products, with the possibility of expanding its coverage to other commodities and broader price-monitoring functions.
Under the proposed system, the DOE-VFO will map fuel stations across Bohol and provide their corresponding locations and coordinates.
Gasoline stations may also be required to regularly submit updated prices to ensure that information available through the application remains timely and reliable.
Provincial Administrator Asteria Caberte said the application could support the Provincial Price Coordination Council by providing updated information that would strengthen price monitoring and coordination.
The meeting also discussed the possibility of entering into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the developer and the provincial government, including the PGBh’s capacity to host the application.
Among those present were DTI Provincial Director Vierna Ligan, DTI-Bohol Division Chief Jerome John Gabin, DOE-VFO Division Chief Jose Rey Maleza, Supervising Science Research Specialist Renelyn Estiya, Chief of Staff Atty. Filipina Asoy-Piollo, Provincial Legal Officer Atty. Handel Lagunay, and representatives of the Bohol ICT Office.
The initiative forms part of the PGBh Strategic Change Roadmap’s push for a smart, resilient, inclusive and sustainable province through digital innovation and responsive governance.
