TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol — Police have identified a 20-year-old student who admitted to making a bomb threat against the San Miguel Technical Vocational High School, prompting authorities to prepare criminal charges against him.
In a statement on Wednesday, July 29, the Bohol Police Provincial Office said the suspect, identified only by the alias “Rey,” confessed during an extrajudicial confession, made in the presence of his lawyer, that he posted the bomb threat as a prank.
According to police, the student sent a Messenger post stating that the school’s building would be blown up. He later admitted there was no real threat and claimed he only wanted to get the attention of his classmates after his younger sibling was allegedly bullied.
The Bohol PPO said it is now preparing the necessary documents to file appropriate charges against the student, including violation of Presidential Decree No. 1727.
Police reminded the public, especially students and young people, that bomb threats are not jokes and carry serious legal consequences, even if intended as a prank.
Bohol Provincial Director Col. Patricio Degay Jr. commended responding police personnel for their swift action in resolving the case, saying the immediate response helped ensure the safety and security of the school community.
