CEBU CITY — Illegal drugs worth more than P81.8 million seized in anti-drug operations in Bohol were destroyed through thermal treatment at an accredited facility in Cebu City on Tuesday, July 28.
The destroyed evidence consisted of 12,040.55 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) with an estimated street value of P81,875,740.
A total of P676 million worth of shabu confiscated from anti-drug operations in Cebu and Bohol were destroyed.
The destruction process was personally witnessed by Police Major Joseph Lopena, chief of the Police Community Affairs and Development Unit (PCADU), to ensure the proper disposal of the illegal substances.
Authorities said the thermal destruction was carried out in accordance with Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, as amended by Republic Act No. 10640, and in compliance with directives from the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB).
The process ensures that all confiscated illegal drugs are permanently destroyed through high-temperature treatment, preventing them from re-entering circulation or being reused.
The Bohol Police Provincial Office said the large volume of seized drugs reflects the sustained anti-illegal drug campaign being conducted by the provincial police in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, other law enforcement agencies, and with the continued support of the people of Bohol.
Police reaffirmed their commitment to intensifying anti-drug operations to keep illegal drugs out of communities across the province.
