Governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado bagged a 3-0 lead in surveys as an average of 79.4 percent of Boholanos pinned their preference to the incumbent’s second term as against former city mayor Dan Lim, who could only command a 7.2 percent average in voter’s preference, two days into the May 12 National and Local elections.
“Eighty percent of Boholano voters pinned their preference to Erico Aristotle Aumentado, as shown in the Holy Name University’s (HNU) Center for Research and Publication’s (CRP) regular round of the Bohol Polls conducted last March 6-29. He also got another 80 percent in the HNU Bohol Poll pre-election survey conducted April 18 to May 4,” announced Director of HNU CRP Maria Paz Espiritu, at the Bohol Poll 2025 pre-election survey public presentation, May 9.
Meanwhile, Lim could only get 6 percent of the voters pinning on him, even if he campaigned to take just a single term in the regular polls.
Lim, whose whole months of sitting in radio programs and lambasting the governor, campaigning, spending for logistics and getting no sleep, finally improved his voters’ preference to 10 percent in the pre-election survey from 6 percent, but still lagged at 5.8 percent voter’s preference in the UB Local polls conducted last April 22-28. .
When 7 of ten Boholano voters root for Aumentado, many observers thought the Administration’s move to impeach Vice President Duterte would dent on the Administration’s local slate considering the Bohol has been an identified Duterte country.
Lim took on the opportunity to ride on the tide of Pro-Duterte emotions, as Aumentado stuck it out with the Administration.
For this, the governor and his wife Congresswoman Vanessa Aumentado became the object of relentless attacks by Lim and his media relations group, but persisted, to earn a 78.8 percent preference by Boholanos as shown in the UB local polls survey, done April 22-28, 2025.
By the time of the HNU Pre-Election polls which was done April 18- May 4, as Lim’s attacks could have capped him a 10 percent voters preference, Aumentado was already cementing his lead with a commanding 78.8 percent.
Lim’s tirades may have earned for him 4 more points in preference in the HNU pre-election survey but it cost him only 5.8 percent in the UB local polls.
It also flagged him for a possible election offense when he showed gender bias and child rights violations.
The Commission on Elections issued a show cause order for Lim to respond with in 3 days why he should not be disqualified for violating election offenses in his anti-gender fair attacks and violation of the universal rights of children. (PIA)
