TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol — Three classrooms and a school canteen at San Francisco Elementary School in Barangay San Francisco, Talibon, were destroyed in a fire early on July 3, authorities said.
According to Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Bohol Provincial Fire Marshal FSupt. Raul Bustaliño, the Talibon Fire Station received the alarm at 2:59 a.m. and declared a first alarm at 3:00 a.m.
Firefighters arrived at the scene within four minutes after traveling about five kilometers from the fire station.
The BFP deployed Engine 1 and Engine 3, both Isuzu Forward fire trucks, to contain and extinguish the blaze.
Authorities said the fire damaged around 207 square meters of school structures, including three classrooms and a canteen owned by the Department of Education (DepEd).
No injuries or fatalities were reported.
Officials said no families were affected since the fire occurred in the early morning when there were no classes.
The BFP is continuing its investigation to determine the cause of the fire and assess the total amount of property damage.
